An office with two black armchairs, a wooden side table with a lamp, a tissue box, and a decorative clock. There is a window showing trees outside, a painting of red flowers on the wall, and a glass-fronted cabinet.

Specialty Areas:  I enjoy working with adults, ages 20 to 80 years old and beyond. I have had over 30 years of experience working with adults in individual therapy in private practice and hospital settings. My specialties are anxiety, panic attacks, depression, grief/loss issues, life transitions and personal growth. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness techniques, progressive relaxation, deep breathing, imagery and journaling.

Treatment Philosophy:  I believe that raising self-esteem, exploring causes, feelings and thoughts as well as developing healthy choices are essential. I enjoy helping people to understand how their healthy and unhealthy thoughts can influence their feelings and behaviors. I also like to conduct my therapy sessions in an atmosphere of compassion, respect and even humor at times. It is a privilege to help people confront their painful issues and work with them to a more peaceful conclusion.

Education: I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Kalamazoo College and a Master's and Doctorate degree in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University.
